TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) – “I am very happy to write in Persian,” Houshang Moradi Kermani a member of the Academy of the Persian Language and Literature said at the 4th International Assembly of Persian Language and Literature Professors on Wednesday. Attending the assembly, Kermani added, “I feel Persian language writers are not alone and they are not limited in number.”

“As a writer, I am very happy that my book, written in Persian, is read by some foreigners. Contrary to what people think, I believe that the Persian language is not a limited language; it has some special potentials and it expresses our worlds.” He continued by saying that how beautiful it is to transfer our worlds to those of others in the first language, and not in the form of translation.

He said, “Writers themselves should show interest in attending such gatherings,” and urged the Persian language researchers and professors to participate actively in all gatherings, where promoting the Persian language and literature is the goal.

In conclusion, he said that nearly 170 foreign and Iranian professors attended the gathering and this proves world’s interest in and attention to Persian language and literature.

It should be noted that the 3-day gathering is held to review the status of the Persian language in the world, to provide Iranian and world professors with facilities for exchange of views and their experiences in this regard.

The first, second, and third international gatherings of Persian Language and Literature Professors were held in 1997, 1999, and 2001 respectively.
